Design of a digital tool for the education of patients of the renal transplant program of the Valle del Lili Foundation
Active project
Abstracts
The educational process for patients in kidney transplant programs focuses on familiarizing the patient with the surgical procedure, care before and after transplantation, taking medications and the warning signs associated with organ rejection. Despite this, some patients do not achieve complete adherence to the program by omitting the information provided, which reduces the chances of adequate recovery and increases the risk of graft rejection. With the support of the Donation and Transplantation Unit of the Valle del Lili Foundation, the following article presents the results obtained from a search of scientific publications in databases, a contextual observation and a series of interviews with doctors and transplant patients, at From which the definition of the characteristics for the design and development of a pedagogical tool that supports education in kidney transplant patients in the preoperative and postoperative stages is presented. It is concluded that there is enormous potential in the use of a mobile application to support patients to achieve adherence to treatment in a safe and autonomous way, since the tool allows patients to make informed decisions, participate critically in their educational process and increase the chances of a successful recovery for a better quality of life.
